Michael Burwell is the man helping to lead Willis Towers Watson into a new age. Appointed the company’s Chief Financial Officer in late 2017 he brings with him a host of experience and forward thinking. Burwell learned everything he needed to know about being a professional while he was at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC).
He was with the corporation for more than 30 years before he departed to join Willis Towers Watson. Before he became the expert he is known as today he spent over a decade working on business advisory services. However, due to his hard work and determination he soon found himself in a leadership role. In fact, when he left PwC he was responsible for overseeing the company’s central U.S. transaction business. He is largely credited with the massive expansion of PwC’s internal shared services.
A lesser known fact about Burwell is that he is indeed a certified public account. He received his certification upon graduating from Michigan State University. He also possesses a bachelor’s degree in business administration as well as being named the university’s alumni of the year in 2010. Something Burwell is very proud of among many of his other accolades he’s received throughout his career.
